Thanks to its extremely low weight of 1,225 grams and outstanding aerodynamics, the Mavic Cosmic Ultimate full-carbon wheelset has become the most sought-after system among Pro Tour teams. This wheelset is the perfect all-rounder and, despite its lightness, impresses with outstanding stiffness and aerodynamics.

Ultimate is not just a name; it is the perfect description of this wheel. And that is why, following its launch 10 years ago, the Cosmic Ultimate quickly became the wheel of choice for professional cyclists seeking a competitive edge. With its 100 per cent carbon, 47 mm high and 25 mm wide NACA aero rim profile for tubeless and standard folding tyres, 20 ultra-slim aero spokes on each side and extra-high, narrow carbon hub flanges, it offers genuine and proven aerodynamic advantages. It is also ultra-stiff, thanks to spokes made from unidirectional carbon fibres that do not stretch. They run continuously from one side of the rim to the other – with R2R technology, two spokes are replaced by a single one, which also does not need to be firmly anchored to the hub. The HR rim is asymmetrical to optimise the spoke angle on the right and allow for more balanced spoke tension – ensuring the wheel remains perfectly stiff even under extreme lateral forces, such as in a sprint finish or during attacks on the mountain. The rim is made from 12K carbon fibres laid over a super-stiff foam core.

Mavic Cosmic Ultimate UST tubeless disc rim:

The rim is based on a 100 per cent carbon NACA aero rim profile, 45 mm high and 27 mm wide. Its complex fibre lay-up optimises the stiffness-to-weight ratio. And the carbon outer layer features our attractive UD finish. Because the rim base is not drilled, no rim tape is required to make the rim airtight – this guarantees trouble-free tubeless operation. Currently the stiffest full-carbon disc wheel, 45 mm high profiled rim without spoke holes, asymmetrical rear rim profile, 100 per cent carbon spokes, aerodynamic spokes and rims, carbon fibre spokes manufactured in a single process with the rim, without nipples, without spoke heads and spoke receptacles in the hubs, aerodynamically shaped front hub body. . The rim is made from 12K carbon fibres laid over a super-stiff foam core. This 100 per cent carbon construction results in an incredibly low pair weight: 1225 grams!

Mavic Ultimate Hubs

The carbon hub bodies feature industrial bearings with automatic preload. On the rear wheel, the Instant Drive 360 freehub ensures lightning-fast power transfer, 40 engagement points = 9 degrees and minimal friction losses. The hubs are thru-axle compatible (12x100 mm at the front, 12x142 mm at the rear), available only for Center Lock brake discs.

Mavic R2R Spoke Technology

Lighter, stiffer, more stable – rim to rim. The unique spokes run from one side of the rim through the hub to the other. R2R technology halves the number of spokes and spoke heads. The result is improved aerodynamics: the spoke is perfectly integrated into the hub flange. Lighter: carbon spokes are lighter than aluminium ones. Stiffer: spokes made from unidirectional carbon fibres have significantly lower elongation under tensile load.
