Schwalbe Tire Booster Pump
With the new Tire Booster from Schwalbe, fitting tubeless tyres is a breeze. The lightweight, handy bottle can be used both at home and on the go. Fitting a tubeless tyre requires a powerful burst of air to ensure the tyre bead presses quickly into the rim flange, thereby sealing the tyre. Depending on the tyre-rim combination, this is not always achievable with conventional floor pumps, explains Peter Krischio, Schwalbe Product Manager Race. In a professional workshop or at a petrol station, a compressor helps.
For safe and easy fitting without a compressor, Schwalbe is now launching the Tire Booster, developed in collaboration with the British start-up Airshot. It allows up to 11 bar of pressure to be applied to the tyre in a single burst. This ensures the tyre sits securely on the rim immediately and seals evenly all round, says Peter Krischio. The Tire Booster offers a significant advantage for tubeless fitting. Weighing just 435 grams, it’s easy to carry with you. If you need an even greater air flow, you can also use a special adapter. To do this, remove the valve core and screw the adapter directly onto the valve stem – this maximises the air flow.
Here’s how it works: connect the Tire Booster to the SV valve on the Tire Booster using a standard floor pump, inflate the tyre, and then operate the quick-release valve. The air is immediately distributed evenly, and the tyre seats itself firmly on the rim – usually with the typical loud crack.
