After application, the emulsion penetrates deep into the gaps between the chain links and, once the alcohol has evaporated, leaves a protective wax film that repels water, sand and dirt. The project took a fascinating turn from the world of IndyCar when Josh met a group who had developed a technology to incorporate microscopic wax powders into a solution that dries quickly and forms a coating indistinguishable from a hot-melt dip bath.
