Sram Standard Caliper Adapter
These adapters are compatible with Sram Code, Guide, Level, G2 and Avid disc brakes with standard calipers
SRAM Guide, Code and Level calipers:
The calipers for the Code, G2, Guide and Level brakes comply with the standard Post Mount specification and are fitted without additional washers. Alternatively, adapters from other manufacturers may also be used
Avid offers two different calipers for the Elixir and Code disc brakes: standard calipers and CPS calipers.
Avid Standard Caliper
The Avid standard brake calipers are bolted directly between the fork and frame without additional shims. Alternatively, adapters from other manufacturers can be used.
Avid CPS brake calipers
Avid CPS brake calipers require additional tapered washers between the fork/frame and the calipers, as is the case with Avid Code brakes, for example
Compatible with Avid and SRAM standard calipers:
- Forks with IS2000 mount and 160 mm disc size
- Frames with IS2000 mount and 140 mm disc size
- Fox 40 suspension forks with IS8 mount
- For installation with Avid CPS brake calipers, additional conical washers must be fitted.
All Avid disc brake calipers feature the Postmount 6 standard. Using adapters, the brakes can then be adapted to the International Standard, Post Mount 6 or Post Mount 7, or other mounts, and the correct distance from the hub is ensured when using larger brake discs, such as 180 and 200 mm discs.
The different frame and fork mounts
IS 2000: Side mounting. An adapter is always required to fit the brake caliper; maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Found on older suspension forks and almost all rear triangle frames
Post Mount, PM5: Direct mounting of the brake caliper without an adapter, using 140 mm brake discs. Maximum 180 mm, minimum 140 mm disc size. Currently found only on rear triangle frames
Post Mount, PM6: Direct mounting of the brake caliper with 160 mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Currently the most common standard on forks, and on some rear triangle frames.
Post Mount, PM7: Direct mounting of the brake caliper with 180mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 203mm, minimum 180mm disc size. 140mm and 160mm disc sizes are not possible. Found on some enduro suspension forks such as the Magura Thor and on some rear triangle frames such as the Liteville 301.
Post Mount, PM8: Direct mounting of the brake caliper without an adapter, using 203mm brake discs. Can only be used with 203mm brake discs. Found only on downhill suspension forks and frames
