bicycle chain

High-quality bicycle chains for every purpose – e-bikes, road bikes, gravel bikes or mountain bikes – from Campagnolo, KMC, Shimano and Sram

Classic derailleur chains all have the same link length of 13.7 mm. Chains for 5- to 8-speed cassettes with the designation 1/2" x 3/32" have an inner width of 2.38 mm, whilst derailleur chains for 9-speed and above with the designation 1/2" x 11/128" have an inner width of 2.18 mm. Single-speed and hub gear chains with the designation 1/2" x 1/8″ have an inner width of 3.175 mm.

To determine the correct chain length for your bike, either use the existing chain as a measurement. Alternatively, you can calculate it.

To do this, add the number of teeth on the largest rear sprocket and the largest front chainring, then divide the result by 2. Next, measure the length of the rear stay, measured from the centre of the hub to the centre of the bottom bracket axle, and multiply this value by 0.157. Add this value to the calculated sprocket value, plus 2, to get the required chain length.
Example calculation: largest rear sprocket 34 teeth, largest chainring 53 teeth, chainstay length 420 mm.

34/2 + 53/2 + 420 × 0.157 + 2 = 111.44 | Chain length 112 links; always round the result up to the nearest whole number.
