Shimano XTR FC-M-980 crankset, 38-26 tooth ratio, 180 mm length, including XTR SMBB93 bottom bracket
The high-end MTB crankset with a large hollow chainring, hollow-forged cranks, and a 2-speed race gear ratio of 38/26 teeth. The crankset of choice for MTB pros, the Shimano Dyna-Sys XTR FCM 980 in the 2-speed version for 10-speed drivetrains, now featuring the new, improved, lighter XTR bottom bracket SM-BB93.
Thanks to the 10-speed cassette and new chainring spacing, the Shimano Dyna-Sys system enables significantly closer gear ratios, resulting in smoother and easier gear changes and reducing chain tension by up to 31 per cent. The closer-spaced chainrings on the crankset allow for smoother and faster shifting and reduce gear overlap.
The heavily loaded middle chainring sits on a carbon carrier, whilst the teeth themselves are made of titanium. This ensures a significantly longer service life for the chainrings. The large and small chainrings are made of 7075 aluminium. The large chainring is also hollow-forged and offers maximum lateral stiffness.
