Shimano DURA-ACE FC 7950 crankset, 50–34 teeth, 2-speed, compact
Hollow-forged chainrings, thin-walled hollow-forged crank arms and a reduced outer surface area bring the weight of the new Shimano Dura-Ace crankset down to 690 grams, including the bottom bracket.
The Dura-Ace Hollowtech II crankset combines an attractive aerodynamic design with remarkable weight savings and pairs this with completely new features. This high-tech beauty is made from very thin, hollow-forged aluminium and offers several innovations in road bike technology. For example, the outer chainring is hollow, which saves weight whilst making it 20 per cent stiffer, thus ensuring optimal power transfer. An aluminium-carbon composite bottom bracket spindle provides further weight reduction. The chainring teeth have been redesigned for improved chain contact, resulting in better power transfer. Despite being lighter than the previous model, the crankset retains the same high level of stiffness.
The Shimano Dura-Ace FC-7950 cranks are compatible with classic BSA and ITA threaded bottom bracket shells and the new Dura-Ace SM-BB7900 bottom bracket. The SM-BB91-41B bottom bracket can be used for installation in BB86 Pressfit bottom bracket shells. For BB30 bottom bracket shells, an adapter is required in addition to the SM-BB7900 bottom bracket, e.g. the Sram part no. 00.6415.032.000.
