The width of the chainring where it meets the crank arm varies between different model years, meaning you will only achieve a visually seamless transition with the Ultegra FCR8000 cranks.

In principle, with Shimano 11-speed road bike cranksets, all small chainrings (34/36/39 teeth) can be combined with all large chainrings (50/52/53 teeth). We do not recommend the 34/53 combination, as this can lead to

shifting problems. Shimano designates chainrings with MS, MT, MW, etc. If you use two chainrings with the same type designation, you will achieve the best shifting results.
