Wireless SHIMANO Di2 cockpit
SHIMANO’s 12-speed GRX Di2 features a gravel-specific cockpit, in which raised grips with a ribbed surface texture and non-slip brake levers enable safe and reliable operation even under extreme conditions. As with the previous models, the GRX RX815 series Di2 shift/brake levers, the third Di2 shift button on the inside of the horns on the new DUAL CONTROL levers ensures that your hand does not have to leave the secure grip on the handlebars to control additional functions. Whether used as an additional control option for the shifting system or to conveniently scroll through the pages of a compatible cycle computer, this third button is undoubtedly a huge asset that makes the SHIMANO Di2 system even more versatile.
Additional Di2 switches
The new Di2 system also allows for the integration of additional shifters, another advantage of electronic shifting systems. By expanding the system with additional shifters on the top tube, down tube or aero extensions, riders can select the optimal gear in every conceivable grip position without having to change their grip. However, these additional shifters can also be assigned numerous other functions via the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app, such as controlling compatible bike computers, lap counters and much more.
The new Di2 platform for 12-speed components requires no cable connection to the rear derailleur or front derailleurs. The Di2 Dual Control shift levers ST R8170 have the necessary wireless module integrated. Power is supplied by CR1632 batteries, which have a service life of up to 2 years. The Di2 12-speed rear derailleur, with its additional wireless unit, acts as a receiver and distributor of shift signals and is connected to the battery and front derailleur for power supply and shift command transmission. Additional wireless components, including those from third-party manufacturers, can also be paired with the rear derailleur.
Configuration via E-TUBE PROJECT
Using SHIMANO’s E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app, users can, among other things, modify and fine-tune the shift intervals in Multi-Shift mode, the assignment of functions to individual shift buttons, and the parameters for Synchronised and Semi-Synchronised Shift, adapting them to individual preferences, riding style or intended use. The launch of the RX825 coincides with the debut of a brand-new front derailleur shifting function called FRONT SHIFT NEXT. Available in future via a firmware update, the E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist app allows any Di2 button on all 2x12-speed systems – including current road bike groupsets – to be assigned the function of shifting the front derailleur to the currently unused chainring and back again. If the chain is on the large chainring, the button shifts to the small one; if it is on the small chainring, the same button shifts to the large one. The result is even faster, more intuitive shifting, as well as the option to assign any other function to the button on the STI that is freed up as a result.
Shimano GRX Disc Brake Caliper BR-RX414:
The BR-RX820 gravel disc brake calipers for the 12-speed GRX groupset. These calipers are compatible with all Shimano disc brake levers. Recommended brake discs: RT-MT800. Thanks to the 10 per cent greater spacing between the brake pads, the brakes can be adjusted more effectively and noise is minimised.
The BR-RX820 gravel disc brake calipers, with 10 per cent more clearance between the brake pads, are particularly resistant to twisting and are approved for brake discs up to 160 mm. Equipped with brake pads featuring external cooling fins, brake heat is reliably dissipated. These calipers are compatible with all Shimano disc brake levers. The bleed system has been redesigned and made significantly simpler. Recommended brake discs: SM-RT800, SM-RT86
