Shimano XTR BL-M8200 brake lever:
The aluminium BL-M8200 brake lever has been redesigned with ergonomics and the human hand in mind, offering powerful braking with a consistent lever feel and modulation for precise control. A new, narrower pivot point follows the natural curve of the fingers, and the ergonomic grip width places the rider in a natural position for confident handling of technical trail sections. The newly designed SERVO WAVE optimises the performance curve and controls friction between the brake pad and disc throughout the entire lever stroke for more balanced braking behaviour, whilst SHIMANO’s new low-viscosity mineral oil maintains consistent performance across a wider temperature range.
- Consistent braking control: The harmonious SERVO WAVE optimises the performance curve and controls friction between the brake pad and disc throughout the entire lever stroke for more balanced braking performance, whilst the new low-viscosity mineral oil maintains consistent performance across a wider temperature range.
- Durability: The BL-M8200’s aluminium brake lever is manufactured using SHIMANO’s proven stamping process.
- Enhanced ergonomics: New lever shapes and pivot points, along with improved reach adjustment, make the BL-M8220 comfortable for all types of riders.
- Clean cable routing: The redesigned cable routing on the BL-M8200 ensures a tidy appearance.
Shimano XT BR-M8200 brake caliper:
The BR-M8200 2-piston brake caliper is SHIMANO’s further-refined post-mount model and, when paired with the BL-M8200 lever, is perfectly suited to cross-country riding. Heat-resistant plastic pistons, synthetic resin or metal brake pads and the new low-viscosity mineral oil make the M9200 brake caliper the ideal choice for all scenarios where 2-piston brake calipers are required.
- Consistent braking control: The completely new low-viscosity mineral oil ensures a reliable and powerful performance curve at all temperatures and on any terrain.
- No rattling: The redesigned pad and oval mount eliminate unnecessary noise
- Heat dissipation: Synthetic or metal pads, with or without cooling fins, allow for precise tuning of braking behaviour in combination with SHIMANO brake discs.
- Clean cable routing: Combine the BR-M8200 brake caliper and the BL-M8200 lever for a tidy look and an ideal balance between braking power and weight.
Shimano I-Spec EV mounting:
The new I-Spec EV system offers a wider adjustment range with 14 mm lateral movement and 60 degrees of rotation. The I-Spec EV mount is not compatible with older I-Spec Type A, Type B or Type II mounts.
The Shimano XT brake caliper uses the Post Mount standard.
IS 2000: Side-mounted. An adapter is always required to fit the brake; maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Common on older suspension forks and almost all rear triangle frames
Post Mount, PM5: Direct mounting of the brake without an adapter, using 140 mm brake discs. Maximum 180 mm, minimum 140 mm disc size. Currently found only on rear triangle frames
Post Mount, PM6: Direct mounting of the brake with 160 mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 220 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Currently the most common standard on forks, and on some rear triangle frames.
Post Mount, PM7: Direct mounting of the brake with 180mm discs without an adapter. Maximum 220mm, minimum 180mm disc size. 140mm and 160mm disc sizes are not possible. Found on some enduro suspension forks such as the Magura Thor and on some rear triangle frames such as the Liteville 301.
Post Mount, PM8: Direct mounting without an adapter for brakes with 203mm brake discs. Can only be used with 203mm and 220mm brake discs. Only found on downhill suspension forks and frames from
