The new Super Record 12x Speed rear derailleur resembles an innovatively shaped sculpture, created using 3D Embrace technology to better accommodate the smaller sprockets, which has a dual effect: chain traction is always perfect, benefiting speed, performance and shifting precision, whilst ensuring an optimal distance between the rear derailleur and the sprockets at all times. Furthermore, the swing arm is designed for sprockets ranging from 11 to 34 teeth, meaning a single model can be used for all sprocket sets in the range. To increase durability and reduce weight, the upper housing section of the new Record 12-speed rear derailleur is made from technopolymer and reinforced with carbon fibre, whilst the titanium screws reduce weight and emphasise the component’s technical and aesthetic features. The new shape of the parallelogram allows the Record Super rear derailleur to move at a different angle. The new internal design keeps the chain closer to the sprocket set, ensuring better power transfer, stronger and more reliable traction, improved chain-to-sprocket engagement and greater durability of components subject to wear. The special shift pawl inside the rear derailleur body, which acts on a spring with a rectangular cross-section, enables the component to move along a path that precisely follows the curvature of the sprockets.
