Shimano XTR BL-M8200 brake lever:
The aluminium BL-M8200 brake lever has been redesigned with ergonomics and the human hand in mind, offering powerful braking with a consistent lever feel and modulation for precise control. A new, narrower pivot point follows the natural curve of the fingers, and the ergonomic grip width places the rider in a natural position for confident handling of technical trail sections. The newly designed SERVO WAVE optimises the performance curve and controls friction between the brake pad and disc throughout the entire lever stroke for more balanced braking behaviour, whilst SHIMANO’s new low-viscosity mineral oil maintains consistent performance across a wider temperature range.
- Consistent braking control: The harmonious SERVO WAVE optimises the performance curve and controls friction between the brake pad and disc throughout the entire lever stroke for more balanced braking behaviour, whilst the new low-viscosity mineral oil maintains consistent performance across a wider temperature range.
- Durability: The BL-M8200’s aluminium brake lever is manufactured using SHIMANO’s proven stamping process.
- Enhanced ergonomics: New lever shapes and pivot points, along with improved reach adjustment, make the BL-M8220 comfortable for all types of riders.
- Clean cable routing: The redesigned cable routing on the BL-M8200 ensures a tidy appearance.
Shimano XT BR-M8220 brake caliper:
The 2-piece 4-piston BR-M8220 brake caliper is the most powerful caliper in the M8200 family, offering even greater performance, consistency and control. The new low-viscosity fluid ensures that the M8220 brakes maintain consistent pad contact across all terrain and weather conditions, whilst the new brake pads eliminate vibration-induced rattling. Increased braking power and stability deliver precise control on demanding trails.
- Redesigned seals and low-viscosity oil: Reliable brake pad contact in all temperatures and trail conditions.
- Predictable braking power: A DH-ready performance curve, perfected for the tough demands of enduro racing and all-day trail riding.
- Heat dissipation: Resin or metal pads, with or without cooling fins, allow for precise tuning of braking behaviour in combination with SHIMANO brake discs.
Shimano I-Spec EV Mounting:
The new I-Spec EV system offers a wider adjustment range with 14 mm lateral movement and 60-degree rotation. The I-Spec EV mount is not compatible with older I-Spec Type A, Type B or Type II mounts.
The Shimano XT brake caliper uses the Post Mount standard.
IS 2000: Side-mounted. An adapter is always required to fit the brake; maximum 203 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Common on older suspension forks and almost all rear triangle frames
Post Mount, PM5: Direct mounting of the brake without an adapter, using 140 mm brake discs. Maximum 180 mm, minimum 140 mm disc size. Currently found only on rear triangle frames
Post Mount, PM6: Direct mounting of the brake with 160 mm brake discs without an adapter. Maximum 220 mm, minimum 160 mm on the fork and 140 mm disc size on the frame. Currently the most common standard on forks, and on some rear triangle frames.
Post Mount, PM7: Direct mounting of the brake with 180mm discs without an adapter. Maximum 220mm, minimum 180mm disc size. 140mm and 160mm disc sizes are not possible. Found on some enduro suspension forks such as the Magura Thor and on some rear triangle frames such as the Liteville 301.
Post Mount, PM8: Direct mounting without an adapter for brakes with 203mm brake discs. Can only be used with 203mm and 220mm brake discs. Only found on downhill suspension forks and frames from
