What do you expect from a headset? That it works and keeps working until you eventually forget it’s there. Nobody cares about the precision fit then; wobbly bearings are someone else’s problem anyway. Not even the quality of these Tune-specific angular contact ball bearings matters. No thought is wasted on whether the clamping mechanism called Gum Gum will damage the carbon steerer tube: it won’t, after all, the contact surfaces are made of silicone. Conclusion: Sometimes you just need a reliable, unassuming set.

Tune industrial bearings:

Tune uses standardised ball bearings. That means you can also buy replacement bearings in Australia. However, the original Tune bearings have two key differences: the grease fill level, which is usually 30 per cent, is 50 per cent in our version. This not only ensures a longer service life but also provides better sealing. Standard bearings usually have normal bearing play.

Zero Stack headset system:

Zero Stack refers to the bearing cups that are fitted into the frame without any lateral protrusion. Zero Stack headsets require frames with a reinforced head tube, as the bearing cups are relatively short and the frame would otherwise be unable to absorb the forces involved. Unlike conventional EC headsets, Zero Stack headset cups are no longer pressed in, but are inserted into the widened head tubes. The advantage lies in the larger bearings, which can then withstand higher loads.
