Wolf Tooth Premium Headset

The Wolf Tooth Premium EC49bottom bracket for frames with a 49 mm press-fit diameter at the bottom of the head tube and forks with a 1.5-inch / 40 mm steerer tube diameter at the bottom.

Wolf Tooth headsets are manufactured in the USA from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminium and are available in two series, Premium and Performance, which differ in terms of bearing materials.

Wolf Tooth Premium bearings:

The Premium series, featuring stainless steel bearings, is designed for maximum durability and smooth operation. Multiple layers of specially shaped double-lip seals protect the bearings even under the harshest conditions. This makes them lightweight, strong and extremely durable.

EC49/40 bottom thread:

The EC49 headset is pressed into the head tube from below; the press-fit dimension in the frame is 49 mm and the fork steerer tube diameter is 1.5 inches at the bottom. The headset cone requires a 40 mm seat on the fork.

EC/External Cup – external headset:

Headset sets designated EC / External Cup are also referred to as external or classic headsets. These headsets require a frame designed for this purpose with an exact match for the bearing cups. ‘External Cup’ refers to the relatively large projection of the bearing cups on the head tube, whilst ‘EC44’, for example, denotes the installation dimension, the outer diameter of the bearing cup and the inner diameter of the bearing cups within the frame. The headsets must be fitted using a special tool; the frame simply needs to be cleanly pre-milled.
