Tune 15 RS Aluminium thru-axle
Thru-axles counteract torsion, as they provide a stronger connection at the bottom of the fork, thereby ensuring a more stable and smoother front end. What’s more, a thru-axle ensures the wheel is always correctly seated. With quick-release skewers, it can sometimes happen that the brake disc rubs after removing and refitting the wheel. The version available here for RockShox forks weighs just 40 grams – over 50 grams less than the original part! As with our quick-release skewers, the eccentric principle is used here. A ball with a lever is embedded in a sort of ‘pan’, in which the axle head is eccentrically mounted. The carbon lever allows you to open and close the clamp. Lubricants are generally sticky and tend to attract dirt. Tune therefore uses a patent-pending method of dry lubrication for the exposed and moving parts of the new series of DC15 quick-release skewers. Here, the solid lubricant molybdenum disulphide, similar to graphite, is incorporated into a coating. After a mud bath, unlike a bicycle chain, the skewer should not be lubricated, but rather cleaned. At least, if you want to. The lubricating coating used not only ensures long-lasting lubrication but also allows the lever to be adjusted, even when closed. Gone are the days when you had to laboriously secure the thru-axle. You can easily close the DC15 and then turn it to the desired position.
