Shimano Saint RD M 820 SS1 rear derailleur, 10-speed
Shimano Saint 2013, the new downhill and freeride components in a 10-speed version. The short cage version of the Saint RD M820 rear derailleur for use with single-chainring cranksets.
The Shadow Plus RDM 820 rear derailleur features a switch on the derailleur cage that allows for a stiffer spring tension to be set and a friction stabiliser to be activated. This counteracts the forces generated by the chain’s up and down movements on rough terrain.
On the Shimano Saint Shadow rear derailleurs, the inward offset has been increased further so that the Saint rear derailleurs barely protrude beyond the derailleur hanger at all. Ideal for freeride and DH use. Furthermore, the spring tension is higher and all guide plates and the parallelogram are solidly constructed. As an additional technical highlight, the gear ratio range can be adjusted. Shimano calls this technology Mode Converter. This allows you to set the gear range to a maximum of 28 teeth for DH (largest sprocket) and 34 teeth for All Mountain (largest sprocket).
