The Shamal project has always represented a forward-looking challenge for Campagnolo. Launched in 1992, the wheel was the first complete wheel with a high profile, an aerodynamic design that was absolutely revolutionary for its time and immediately established itself.

The innovation in this Dual Profile wheel lies in its construction: a modified modular profile, perfected in the wind tunnel and through road testing, which, in combination with differentiated hub flanges, allows for the use of shorter spokes. This improves overall stiffness without compromising the cyclist’s comfort when pedalling.

As with the previous models, the new Shamal Dual Profile also uses a fibre with a C-LUX finish. This ensures optimum riding characteristics on the road in all conditions, even with wide tyres, meaning the wheel can also be used on gravel.

Thanks to the special features of the new Campagnolo Shamal with 2-Way-Fit system, the cyclist can choose between classic tyres and tubeless tyres, with the use of tubeless tyres made possible by the bore-less upper rim flange, which eliminates the need for a sealant tape.

The spokes are arranged according to Campagnolo’s signature G3 lacing pattern. This patented system ensures the cyclist perfect tension balance and optimum stiffness for transferring the power generated by the pedals.

The smooth running of the new Campagnolo Shamal is ensured by aluminium hubs with a sliding and tapered bearing system, which also allows for easy maintenance of the bearings. Compared to the previous model, the new materials result in a weight saving of more than one hundred grams, bringing the total weight down to 1,480 grams.

Campagnolo 2 Way Fit technology:

this cutting-edge technology allows the use of UST road tyres without an inner tube. When using a tubeless tyre, you benefit from improved rolling characteristics, as friction between the tyre and the inner tube is completely eliminated. A tubeless tyre cannot suddenly lose air and go flat due to a puncture, which represents a significant safety advantage. No risk of punctures, as there is no inner tube.

Campagnolo Shamal Disc Hubs:

Oversized aluminium hub bodies, optionally convertible to quick-release mounting. The hub flange on the right-hand side of the rear wheel has an enlarged diameter to compensate for the torsional stiffness against the forces exerted by the chain. Adjustable high-end USB ceramic ball bearings with 15 balls are used for the bearings. Thanks to external adjustment options, the hubs are easy to adjust and maintain. On the quick-release skewers, the tension lever on the eccentric can be tightened symmetrically on both sides.

Campagnolo Shamal 2-Way-Fit rims:

The carbon rims, which have no holes for spoke nipples, are additionally sealed and are therefore tubeless-compatible. The Shamal tubeless-ready rims with a 23 mm rim width are dynamically balanced, meaning that the imbalance caused by the uneven weight distribution between the rim joint and the valve is compensated for by the machining between the spoke holes. The rims have an unperforated rim bed, so that a rim tape is no longer required. The Shamal rims feature a differentiated profile: 25 mm profile height for the front wheel and 28 mm for the rear wheel.

Campagnolo C-Lux Finish:

Fast wheels must be up to the task in terms of both aesthetics and function. Campagnolo’s carbon fibre rims are finished with the impressive Campagnolo Luxury mirror finish. The C-LUX surface is achieved by controlling the external thickness of the resin from which the carbon fibre structure is also made. The wheel is therefore made from a single material and is so smooth and free from imperfections that it does not need to be painted: a unique feature that saves weight and underlines the lightness of the Campagnolo design. Even in the rim channel, first introduced on the Bora Ultra WTO, the scientific precision of the C-LUX finish helps to ensure the tubeless tyres are positioned as securely as possible. A design advantage that promotes sealing and easy installation/fitting, whilst reducing the risk of damage to the tyre beads. The fascinating reflections of the exposed carbon fibre and the clean lines make Campagnolo wheels true design icons. The C-LUX surface thus becomes a distinctive feature that emphasises the aesthetics of bikes equipped with Campagnolo wheels, enriching them with new emotions and meaningful significance. The C-LUX finish is used on the Bora Ultra WTO, Bora WTO, Hyperon Ultra, Shamal and Ghibli road wheels, and the Levante gravel wheels.

Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:

‘Hooked’ or ‘Crotchet’ refers to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This aids in securing the tyre bead and ensures reliable performance, even when using high tyre pressure (> 5 bar). ‘Tubeless’ means that the rim can be ridden without an inner tube, although a setup with an inner tube is also possible.

Campagnolo Shamal spokes:

Both the spokes and spoke nipples are made of light alloy, offering absolute stiffness, lightness and aerodynamics. The Mega G3 lacing pattern ensures perfectly balanced spoke tension and allows the Shamal wheelsets to be used by heavier riders.
