28-inch DT Swiss 240 EXP Straightpull wheelset with DT RR 421 rims

The lightweight and sturdy high-end road, cyclocross, endurance and gravel wheelset featuring the 420-gram lightweight asymmetrical DT Swiss RR 421 rims and the new DT Swiss 240 EXP Spline hubs. We offer this wheelset with Centre Lock or Disc 6-hole brake disc mounts. The 240 EXP hubs are available in quick-release, thru-axle or Boost thru-axle versions. Thanks to their 20 mm rim width, the DT RR 421 rims are suitable for tyres between 28 and 40 mm wide.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We manufacture these wheels entirely by hand for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in roundness, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs:

The DT Swiss 240 EXP straight-pull hubs offer minimal weight combined with exceptional durability – a rarity in hub construction. The DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs feature low-maintenance stainless steel ball bearings. The patented freehub body utilises interlocking toothed discs, ensuring loss-free power transmission. Straightpull refers to straight, non-offset spokes. Thanks to this technology, it is possible to achieve an ideal balance between weight and stability. The straightpull spokes allow for very precise alignment and optimised positioning within the wheel, resulting in a stiffer and more responsive wheel.

DT Swiss RR 421 rims:

The DT Swiss RR 421 DB road, gravel, cross and endurance rim for use with disc brakes is very light at just 420 grams and stable thanks to a high-strength aluminium alloy, an asymmetrical rim profile and a 24 mm rim width. With a rim width of 20 mm, the DT Swiss RR 421 DB rim is ideal for tyre sizes from 28–40 mm. The rim’s asymmetrical design allows for more even spoke tension, significantly increasing stability and service life. With a clean finish, welded joint, CNC-machined sidewalls and a 21 mm deep rim bed, the DT Swiss RR 421 DB is the perfect rim for building very light and stable wheelsets.

The DT Swiss RR 421 DB rims are high-end rims with a special spoke nipple mount and are supplied with special DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and PHR washers; they must only be laced using these nipples. Furthermore, the DT RR 412 rims are tubeless-ready.

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building at the highest level. Thanks to the tapered section in the middle, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheels, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke is cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Competition Race spokes:

Just as versatile as the bent version of the DT Competition spoke, but in a straight design. They are perfectly matched to the new straight-pull hubs and offer even greater durability compared to the conventional DT Competition spoke. Thanks to the extra-thin centre section, they save a further 35 g per wheel compared to the already lightweight DT Competition, whilst offering almost the same stiffness and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:

The DT Swiss Aerolite spokes are flatter and lighter than any others; the DT Swiss Aerolite spokes feature an aerodynamic flat profile and are extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic centre section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh just an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at a length of 264 mm: 4.31 grams

DT Squorx spoke nipples:

The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head shape, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area within the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
