Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

Hand-built in our specialist workshop. We manufacture these wheels entirely by hand for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of return for them. Thanks to more than 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the transverse and longitudinal directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

Included in delivery:

  • Front wheel fully laced in our workshop and hand-trued with a SON 28 hub dynamo, DT spokes, DT nipples as selected and a WTB Kom Light rim.
  • Excludes rim tape and valve

Please feel free to enquire about other wheel configurations. We will then send you a quote.

The SON 28 hub dynamo from Schmidt offers excellent smoothness and very high efficiency. Manufactured and developed in Germany, Schmidt dynamos generally last longer than the bikes they are fitted to. The ideal complement is Schmidt’s Edelux lights, as the SonDelux lights are particularly low-loss yet still provide plenty of light even at low speeds.

Son 28 Hub Dynamo:

The Son 28 for 12 mm thru-axles. Until now, the discerning cyclist had to choose between the two. The thru-axle stiffens the suspension fork and allows for more precise positioning of the hub, which is particularly beneficial for disc brakes. At 440 g, the weight has been kept pleasingly low; the new SON 28 resembles the SONdelux in both construction and appearance. In the standard version, the flange spacing and bearing spacing have been increased by 12 mm and 10 mm respectively compared to the SONdelux. Compared to the SON 28 Classic model years 2000 to 2011, idle losses have been reduced by approx. 15 per cent and the weight by 140 g. The secret lies in the gearless design using high-quality materials and the adherence to tight tolerances, which is likely only achievable through hand-crafting by a dedicated small team. The dynamo is simply switched off electrically. Thanks to these optimisations, the no-load losses when switched off amount to just 1 watt and are imperceptible even to the most sensitive riders whilst cycling.

Mavic WTB Kom Light rim:

For this wheel, we offer the WTB rim with a rim width of 21–25 mm. Very lightweight, made from high-end WT69 aluminium, high-strength and featuring what is arguably the simplest tubeless system currently on the market. Available as a narrow, super-lightweight gravel and cross-country rim. The patented 4D spoke hole ensures the best possible spoke nipple fit and distributes tension more evenly over a larger area. This ensures excellent durability. The integration of the all-new WTB Solid Strip into the TCS 2.0 rims delivers a very easy-to-fit and reliable tubeless system. A recessed channel in the centre of the TCS 2.0 rims allows for the installation of the all-new Solid Strip, which prevents the tubeless tape from sagging at the spoke holes and guarantees a smooth, even connection between tyre and rim.

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the taper in the middle section, the spokes absorb the movements in the wheel excellently, without compromising on lateral stiffness and durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams.

DT Competition Race spokes:

Just as versatile as the bent version of the DT Competition spoke, but as a straight spoke. They are optimally matched to the new straight-pull hubs and offer even greater durability compared to the conventional DT Competition spoke. Thanks to the extra-thin middle section, they save a further 35 g per wheel compared to the already lightweight DT Competition, whilst offering almost the same stiffness and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke is cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced ratio of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:

The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at 264 mm length: 4.31 grams

DT Swiss Revolite spokes:

Completely redesigned with a 2 mm spoke head and 2 mm spoke thread, and aerodynamically tapered to 1.3 mm at the centre, the Revolite is the stable all-round spoke. The DT Revolite is the ideal choice for riders looking for a spoke that combines durability with low weight. Double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a 1.3 mm thick and 1.58 mm wide semi-aero centre section.
