Schmidt Son 29 S hub dynamo wheel with Mavic Aero carbon rim

The 28-inch front wheel with the Son 29 S straight-pull dynamo and Mavic high-end gravel and road bike carbon rims C-2132, C-2142, C-2345 or C-2542 aero carbon rims. Designed for a maximum system weight of 120 kg. You can choose from DT Swiss Competition, DT Aero Comp, DT Aero Lite and DT Revolite spokes.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. Thanks to expertise gained from over 30 years of experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheels are, of course, tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheels. For enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

These wheelsets are made to order specifically for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of withdrawal for them.

• Front wheel fully laced and hand-trued in our workshop with a Son 29 S hub, DT spokes, DT nipples and a MavicDisc carbon rim.

SON 29 S disc 6-hole

The new SON 29 S: slim, light, efficient. The straight-pull dynamo. Thanks to its optimised design, it delivers 6V/3W even at low speeds and meets StVZO requirements for 29-inch wheels too. Ideal for high-performance charging electronics. The brake disc side is laced in a cross pattern and the connection side in a radial pattern. The 24-hole version has 16 left-hand and 8 right-hand spokes, the 32-hole version has 16 left-hand and 16 right-hand spokes. The SON 29 S comes fitted as standard with a coaxial socket for the SON coaxial plug. For the 1:2 model, we recommend building it with a rim manufactured to the correct specification to achieve an optimal spoke pattern. You can find suitable rims with a 1:2 drilling pattern here.

Mavic Carbon Aero Rims

The high-end carbon rims:

• The C-2132 from Mavic for road and gravel use. Aero profile with 32 mm height, 21 mm internal rim width, weighing 392 grams, Adaptive Layup, hooked tubeless ready, suitable for road bikes and also for wide gravel tyres. Available in 24-hole and 28-hole versions. The super-light full-carbon rim with the aerodynamic NACA profile, 32 mm height and 21 mm rim width, is not only very light but also very stable. Its range of use extends from classic road racing to tough cyclocross and gravel riding.
• The C-2142 Discbrake carbon rims from Mavic for road and gravel use. Aero profile with 42 mm height, 21 mm internal rim width, weighing just 444 grams, Adaptive Layup, hooked tubeless ready, suitable for road bikes and also for wide gravel tyres. DT Swiss Competition spokes

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered mid-section, the spokes absorb movement in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability.

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheels, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke in the straight-pull version is first tapered in the middle section using a cold-forging process, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:

The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at a length of 264 mm: 4.31 grams.

DT Swiss Revolite spokes:

The DT Revolite is the ideal choice for riders looking for a spoke that combines durability, low weight and aerodynamics. With a 2.3 x 1.3 mm cross-section in the middle section of the spokes, these offer excellent aerodynamics. Through several rounds of development, their innovative shape has been optimised to outperform all other DT Swiss MTB spokes in their weight class in terms of durability. This has been achieved through the unique blading process, which achieves additional compaction of the material, and a patent-pending process that ensures a uniform transition from the tapered to the forged section of the spoke. Weighing just approx. 4.5 grams at a length of 264 mm per spoke, the Revolite is also exceptionally light.

DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head Nipple PHR Washer:

The DT Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation, light weight and optimal performance in a single product. The Torx head makes lacing flat spokes a breeze. The spherical contact surface ensures perfect alignment with the spoke, whilst the square section allows for easy re-centring using standard tools whilst the tyre is fitted. With these rims, the Squorx nipples are included in the scope of delivery, along with the PHR washer, which is fitted between the nipple and the rim bed. This ensures even pressure distribution and long-lasting durability.
