DT Swiss 240 EXP Disc wheel set with EX 511 rims

The high-end trail and enduro 27.5-inch rear wheel featuring the new DT Swiss 240 EXP hub and the DT Swiss EX 511 rim with a 30 mm rim width. The new, super-robust DT Swiss 240 EXP Classic hubs with the Ratchet EXP system are approved for a system weight of 130 kg.

We offer the wheelsets with freehub bodies for Shimano HG, SRAM XD and Shimano Microspline cassettes. The hubs are available in all standard mounting widths from quick-release to Super Boost thru-axle, Disc 6-bolt and Disc Centerlock. The Centerlock hubs are not available in all mounting sizes

DT Swiss 240 EXP Hubs:

With the DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs, minimal weight combined with extremely good durability is something of a rarity, particularly in hub construction. The new axle system, with 15 per cent more support width, increases hub stiffness. The ‘EXP’ in the DT Swiss 240 EXP hubs stands for the integration of the gear ring and threaded ring, which reduces the number of components and thus lowers the weight. A single coil spring ensures faster, complete engagement and thus greater reliability. The complete interlocking of the ring gears creates a large contact area and thus low point loads, resulting in superior reliability. The stainless steel ball bearings have proven to be extremely reliable and durable since the introduction of the 240 EXP hubs. The patented freehub body features interlocking toothed discs. This guarantees loss-free power transmission.

DT Swiss EX 511 rim:

The 35 mm wide Enduro rim from DT Swiss, the EX 511. Designed for wide Enduro tyres, the DT EX 511 rim offers very high stability whilst weighing just 535 grams. Thanks to extensive FEM analyses, DT Swiss EX 511 rims feature material only where it is actually needed. These rims are supplied with special DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and PHR washers and must only be laced using these nipples. With the wide EX 511 rim, DT Swiss offers a rim for stable Enduro wheelsets with really wide tyres. Cleanly finished, with a welded joint and stainless steel eyelets, the DT offers high stability at a low weight

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheels exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the material. These wheels are, of course, pressure-tested multiple times; we also pre-load the spokes in both the radial and lateral directions. This eliminates the need for re-centring over a long period of time. We use DT Swiss spokes exclusively. These ensure outstanding durability of the wheelsets. For DH and Enduro use, we recommend brass nipples.

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheels. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheels. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered middle section, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel excellently without compromising lateral stiffness or durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke in the straight-pull version is first cold-forged in the middle section, making it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.

DT Swiss Aero Lite spokes:

The DT Swiss Aerolite spoke is flatter and lighter than any other; the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. Thanks to the 0.9 x 2.3 mm aerodynamic mid-section, this spoke can be fitted to all standard hubs. The Cold Forging Technology (CFT) developed by DT Swiss makes the reduced and forged DT Aerolite the lightest stainless steel spoke and gives it excellent mechanical properties. Particularly suitable for super-light and fast road or cross-country wheelsets. 64 DT Aerolite spokes weigh just an incredible 278 g at a length of 264 mm. Weight per spoke at a length of 264 mm: 4.31 grams

DT Squorx spoke nipples:

The DT Swiss Squorx Pro Head nipple combines ease of installation with light weight thanks to the DT Pro Head shape, combined with an additional Torx and square tool socket. The Torx socket provides a larger contact area during wheel building, ensuring that the force from the tool is better distributed across the nipple. The spherical contact area within the rim guarantees perfect alignment with the spoke.
