Mavic Cosmic SLR 32 Disc
When you’re chasing the KOM on the toughest climbs, nothing gives you more of a boost than a lightweight and responsive carbon wheelset. This newcomer to the Cosmic family replaces the venerable Ksyrium Pro Carbon SL Disc. It features a newly developed carbon rim, which is the lightest in its category. Its 32 mm airfoil shape cuts through the wind, and as the rim has been specifically designed for disc brakes, you’ll have greater confidence and control on the descents.
The high-end semi-aero wheels for mountain stages, marathons and racing, featuring super-light, non-drilled full-carbon UST rims. The rim, with its 32 mm high airfoil profile, not only cuts through the wind with low drag, it is also the lightest in its category. In the new UD finish with a very special look, the lighter laminate saves a further 40 g per rim.
The lightweight carbon disc wheels: Mavic’s Cosmic SLR Carbon Disc aero wheels with full-carbon rims and Mavic QRM Auto Infinity hubs. These top-class all-round aero wheels impress not only with the lowest rolling resistance in their category, but also with completely new road tubeless technology. This design enables very lightweight and exceptionally stable carbon wheels weighing just 1,390 grams. The new Infinity Disc hubs are lightweight and compatible with all standard axle-frame systems. The rear wheel features the Instant Drive 360 ratchet body with the new, extra-stable QRM Auto bearing system.
Mavic Infinity Disc hubs:
The completely newly developed Infinity hubs are equipped with a larger 17 mm axle diameter and larger bearings. This increases the torsional stiffness of the axles by approximately 35 per cent. The proven Mavic QRM auto industrial bearings are used in the Infinity hubs. Equipped with the Instant Drive sprocket-style freehub body, the ORM auto axle system and self-aligning bearings, they ensure maintenance-free operation over a long period.
Mavic Infinity Disc Hub Compatibility:
The oversized aluminium axles allow for easy conversion to all standard axle systems. The Infinity front hub is compatible with QR9x100mm quick-release and QR12x100mm thru-axle mounts; the Infinity rear hub is compatible with 10x135mm quick-release mounts and 12x142mm and 12x135mm thru-axles.
Mavic Instant Drive 360 Freehub Body
The Instant Drive 360 freehub system is super-light and ensures rapid power transfer with a mere 9-degree engagement angle. A large, contact-free rubber seal reduces friction. And a wide selection of axle stubs ensures compatibility with many mounting standards. The oversized aluminium axle and the hardened aluminium freehub body save 40 g. Two sprockets with 40-tooth profiles ensure fast and loss-free power transfer. A radial seal guarantees low friction at high speeds and perfect water resistance. This freehub body is easy to convert and is available in an HG11 version for Shimano and SRAM 8–11-speed, SRAM XDR 12-speed road bike and Campagnolo 9–12-speed ED cassettes. A rubber damper is fitted as standard, which can be removed. For those who prefer a slightly more distinctive sound.
Mavic Cosmic SLR 32 Disc UST rims:
The super-light, genuine UST full-carbon rims of the Cosmic SLR wheelsets, featuring an undrilled rim bed and an elliptical NACA rim profile, reduce rotating mass and deliver excellent acceleration. The 32 mm-high full-carbon aero rims, with a 21 mm rim width, are perfectly designed for tyre widths of 25–45 mm. The rim is manufactured using a new laminate and Mavic’s exclusive Fore Carbon technology, which leaves the upper rim flange intact and reinforces the rim only where necessary. This saves 40 g per wheel. The spoke nipples are screwed directly into the rim without the need to drill the upper rim bed, meaning no rim tape is required. This results in a further weight saving of 30 g per wheel. The new shape of the rim bed makes it easier than ever to fit and remove tyres, and with the UST tubeless system, you get extremely low rolling resistance. No inner tube means no friction, and more air volume means a smoother, faster ride.
Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:
Hooked or Crotchet rims refer to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This supports the tyre bead and ensures that the tyre cannot come off the rim, even when using high tyre pressure > 5 bar. Tubeless means that the rim can be ridden without an inner tube, but a setup with an inner tube is also possible.
Mavic Aero spokes:
The patented elliptical spoke shape significantly improves aerodynamics. The durability of Mavic stainless steel spokes is exceptionally high.
Mavic Tubeless System:
The new rim bed makes fitting tubeless tyres easier. The pronounced and wider grooves in the rim bed significantly simplify tubeless fitting. Mavic is thus setting the standard for easy tubeless fitting. The fitting process is no different from that of standard folding tyres. This allows the advantages of tubeless tyres – lower rolling resistance, greater riding comfort and reduced risk of punctures – to come into their own.
Of course, the Mavic Cosmic wheels can also be used with standard folding and clincher tyres and inner tubes without any issues. When out and about, we recommend carrying a standard inner tube as a quick puncture repair solution.
