Silca Ultimate Super Secret Chain Lube:
Once applied, the emulsion penetrates deep into the gaps between the chain links and, once the alcohol has evaporated, leaves a protective wax film that repels water, sand and dirt. The chain stays clean and perfectly lubricated for longer. Conventional chain oil, on the other hand, tends to attract dirt.

Josh has been recommending Hot Melt Wax and helping pro cyclists and triathletes wax chains for years, and wanted to bring his lubricant formula to our customers; the challenge was how to consistently melt, dip and coat the chain across various crockpot designs and temperatures. The project took a fascinating turn from the world of IndyCar when Josh met a group who had developed a technology to incorporate microscopic wax powders into a solution that dries quickly and forms a coating indistinguishable from a hot-melt dip bath. The combination of air-drying liquid wax and tungsten disulphide quickly proved to be superior to all currently available hot-melt waxes in friction tests, whilst also being much quicker and easier to apply.
Silca Ultimate Chain Stripper:
SILCA Chain Stripper is a highly concentrated, biodegradable degreaser combined with a wax adhesion promoter (primer) that enables rapid, single-step preparation of factory-lubricated chains for waxing, whilst improving wax adhesion and increasing longevity. SILCA Chain Stripper reduces the time and number of chemicals required to properly prepare a factory-lubricated chain to less than 10 minutes and can even be used to prepare bicycle chains for the application of drip wax.
In just 10 minutes, the chain is completely degreased and ready for waxing. Simply dip the chain or drizzle it onto the chain, rinse it off and apply the wax. Save yourself all the hard work and harsh chemicals when waxing the chain!
By far the biggest hurdle in switching to a waxed drivetrain has always been the need to completely remove the factory lubricant from the chain so that the wax can adhere properly. Conventional methods involved 2–3 different solvents and rinsing steps, starting with non-polar solvents that dilute greases and oils, through to increasingly polar solvents that evaporate quickly to remove residues. When developing SILCA Chain Stripper, we started at the end and worked backwards to find chemicals that displace greases and oils whilst promoting wax adhesion to the metal. The result is an organic cleaner that lifts and encapsulates greases and oils so that they can be easily rinsed away from the metal surface. The result is the world’s first wax-optimised chain cleaner that not only removes greases and oils but also prepares the metal surface for better adhesion of wax-based lubricants.
