Campa Ekar Gravel Groupset
The Ekar Gravel groupset from Campagnolo as a complete package, optionally with disc brakes and bottom bracket
Lightweight and reliable, the Ekar Gravel groupset from Campagnolo. Named after Mount Ekar, Campagnolo’s Ekar 13-speed groupset is no conventional groupset. With a wide range of gravel-specific combinations and no compromises, Ekar is designed from the ground up to deliver optimal performance, the best riding experience and maximum reliability for your gravel, all-road and endurance routes on the toughest terrain you face and where you want to challenge yourself. From the outset, our engineers and design team tested and pursued the idea of a 1x system, considering it the most suitable system for gravel, whilst taking on the challenge of creating the lightest, most efficient and most precise drivetrain for this type of use: the Ekar groupset.

Campagnolo Ekar rear derailleur:
The unique 1x13 system makes the setup so effective; the use of a 9-speed sprocket enables a perfect gear range characterised by short, precise shifts and a balanced cadence. Technology, design and materials have been selected to meet the specific performance requirements of all-road and gravel enthusiasts. The combination of fast, precise and reliable shifting, coupled with reliable chain guidance, low weight, durability and robustness, rightly opens the door to the all-road arena for the EKAR.
Disc brake levers and Campagnolo Ekar Ergopower:
The Ekar brake levers and shift-brake levers have been adapted for specific gravel use. In doing so, the advantages of the Campagnolo brake-shift lever system have been retained: the renowned precision and the maximum comfort offered by the Vari-Cushion hand grips. With the levers featuring differentiated action, you can’t go wrong when shifting, and Campagnolo’s tried-and-tested One-Lever-One-Action philosophy guarantees perfect control even in challenging off-road conditions.
The thumb button has been redesigned to be larger and C-shaped, making it easy to reach with the right thumb whilst riding with your hands in a high position on the handlebars: this is the hand position most commonly used by gravel riders. The Ekar Ergopower levers allow you to adjust the brake lever spacing to suit the size of your hand and fingers and to meet the demands of your riding style. To further improve control on gravel routes, the aluminium brake lever and rubber grips are laser-cut and feature an additional texture to increase grip – regardless of riding conditions. The laser pattern is also resistant to wear caused by sweat, dirt and cleaning agents: a gravel-proof solution. The internal Ultra-Shift mechanism controls the 13-speed rear derailleur and allows you to shift up to 3 sprockets with a single movement. The reliability of individual downshift operations is ideal for gravel routes with slippery, undulating and unpredictable surfaces.
Campagnolo Ekar Flat Mount disc brake calipers:
The flat-mount calipers of Campagnolo’s disc brakes offer excellent stability with their 22 mm pistons made from Penolhartz, as well as magnetic pad retention for simple and straightforward replacement. In addition to Campagnolo’s typically perfect workmanship, the brakes feature a wear indicator and smooth, friction-free operation. Campagnolo offers two different calipers for the front flat-mount brake, with a separate model for 140 mm and 160 mm rotors respectively. The 160 mm version is supplied with mounting bolts. The 160 mm variant cannot be converted to 140 mm. The mounting bolts for the rear brake calipers are not included and are available separately in different lengths to suit different rear triangle thicknesses
Campagnolo Ekar crankset:
The Ekar crankset offers maximum strength and lightweight materials. The single chainring with the Narrow Wide profile ensures clean chain guidance in all gears. The ProTech - Ultra Torque axle system was developed for gravel use. The new ProTech bottom brackets are significantly better sealed, ideal for off-road use. The Hirt thread connection reliably joins the two half-axles inside the bottom bracket. The stiffness values of this system are on a par with the best 30 mm axle systems. The stainless steel ball bearings are pre-mounted on the crank arms and are easy to replace if necessary.
Campagnolo ProTech:
The patented ProTech technology with double sealing firmly connects the two axle halves within the bottom bracket and protects the bearings from the ingress of water and mud, ensuring high performance and durability even under the worst conditions. The innovative and proven Ultra-Torque technology has been further developed for gravel use. The Hirth spline of the ProTech system features self-centring and self-aligning teeth located at the centre of the crankset, where the ends of the integrated axle halves meet.
The axle halves are secured with a single, oversized, protected bolt. Their precise fit can even compensate for the misalignment that some carbon frames may exhibit due to the minute tolerance differences in their manufacture. The torque transmission of the ProTech crankset system is as efficient as that of a single thru-axle and lighter. Furthermore, it is also more durable, as it is better protected than other systems. The oversized stainless steel bearing located on the crank arm outside the bottom bracket cups offers maximum stiffness, smoothness and strength thanks to the increased diameter of the crank axles.
The actual ball bearings are included with the Campagnolo Ekar cranks. Due to the wider design required for the new ProTech bearing seals, the Campagnolo ProTech bottom brackets are not compatible with the Ultra Torque road bike cranks
Campagnolo Ekar ProTech crankset bearings:
The stainless steel deep-groove ball bearings guarantee smooth running and are included with the crankset. The ProTech bearings feature sophisticated seals, making them suitable for off-road use
Campagnolo Ekar cassette:
Small gear steps in the first 6 gears, whilst the steps in the upper half of the cassette increase appropriately. This characteristic offers an optimal riding experience, helping you to get the most out of your performance on challenging routes and difficult terrain. The wide selection of lighter gears allows for a more compact cassette for demanding endurance events and longer gear ratios for keen adventurers. The different cassettes are combined with a selection of easily interchangeable front chainrings to offer the widest possible range of gear ratios, small gear steps and maximum efficiency, as well as – unlike 2x systems – no gear overlap. Two of the cassettes are equipped with a 9-speed starting sprocket. Extensive comparative tests have shown that a 9-speed sprocket is just as efficient as any 10- or 11-speed sprocket, without increased friction thanks to the special arrangement of the sprocket teeth, ensuring that none of the transmitted power is lost.
Campagnolo Ekar chain:
The Ekar C13 drivetrain chain is available in two fastening variants: with the classic Campagnolo pin or with the new C-Link for even easier removal and cleaning. Both versions have been designed to offer the versatility required to meet the diverse global needs of all types of gravel riding. Whether you are a dedicated gravel rider, compete in long-distance endurance races or simply want to enjoy the all-road experience, both versions offer the same durability and efficiency thanks to the use of the same materials and manufacturing processes.
