The Cane Creek Forty EC34 headset upper and lower cups for frames with an installation dimension of 34 mm at the top and bottom of the head tube and forks with a steerer tube diameter of 1 1/8 inch / 28.6 mm at the top and 1 1/8 inch / 30 mm at the bottom.

EC34/28.6 top thread diameter:

The EC34 headset is pressed into the top of the head tube; the press-fit dimension in the frame is 34 mm and the fork steerer tube diameter is 1 1/8 inch / 28.6 mm at the top.

EC34/30 bottom thread:

The EC34 headset is pressed into the head tube at the bottom; the press-fit dimension in the frame is 34 mm and the fork steerer tube diameter is 1 1/8 inch at the bottom. The headset cone requires a 30 mm seat on the fork at the bottom.

EC/External Cup – external headset:

Head sets designated EC / External Cup are also referred to as external or classic head sets. These head sets require a frame designed for this purpose with an exact match for the bearing cups. ‘External Cup’ refers to the relatively large projection of the bearing cups on the head tube, whilst ‘EC44’, for example, denotes the installation dimension, the outer diameter of the bearing cup and the inner diameter of the bearing cups in the frame. The headsets must be pressed in using a special tool, and the frame must be cleanly pre-milled.
