DT RWS Plug In Lever
This replacement lever with a 6 mm hex socket is compatible with all DT Swiss RWS Plug In thru-axles. Only with these does it lock into place and can remain on the bike.
The patented RWS wheel mounting system from DT Swiss is stiff, secure and easy to use. The Plug In version offers all the advantages of tool-free quick-release axle installation, if that is what you prefer. If you prefer the clean look of a threaded axle, simply remove the lever unit and stow it in your rucksack. Or leave it at home altogether. The axle features a 6 mm hex socket that can be operated with any standard tool. The lever unit also features a 6 mm hex socket, which can of course be used as a mini-tool when out and about. Clean and smart: the RWS Plug In.
DT Swiss RWS:
stands for Ratchet Wheel Mounting System, the innovative wheel mounting system from DT Swiss! Instead of the eccentric clamping principle developed for road bikes over 80 years ago, the RWS builds up clamping force by tightening a screw connection with a lever. The lever can be set to any position by lifting it axially and turning it.
Operation is incredibly simple: tighten the clamp by turning the lever clockwise as tightly as possible by hand, using at least 15 Nm of torque. Depending on the frame or fork design, this can also be achieved by flipping the lever several times. Then lift the lever and turn it to the desired position – the wheel is securely and firmly mounted. Because there are no plastic parts in the force path with the RWS, the clamping force is temperature-independent, making the RWS 100 per cent compatible with disc brakes!
Thanks to the direct transfer of lever force to the thread, the RWS can achieve up to 50 per cent higher clamping force than existing eccentric quick-release mechanisms. This is not only safer but also increases stiffness, which is particularly noticeable with disc brakes.
