Shimano XTR SL-M980 I-Spec Type B Shift Lever

The XTR Rapidfire shift levers SL-M-980-I are designed for direct mounting on the new XTR disc brake levers. This saves weight and creates plenty of space on the handlebars.

The XTR SLM 980 shift levers can be used as 2-speed and 3-speed shift levers for the front derailleur. In 2-speed mode, the shift travel is shorter. The familiar first-class performance of the 9-speed shifters is, of course, retained.

The shifters operate with virtually no play, and the lower lever can be operated in two directions. This allows you to shift quickly from any grip position. The narrow handlebar clamp allows the levers to be mounted on either the right or left side of the brake lever. Furthermore, the shifter unit is adjustable laterally within the clamp. This allows you to mount the Rapidfire lever exactly as you wish

Shimano I-Spec mounting:

The XTR SLM980BI shift levers are suitable for direct mounting (I-Spec) on the brake levers of the 2014 Shimano disc brakes with I-Spec clamps. This mounting system ensures space-saving installation of the shift levers directly onto the brake lever clamp. Shimano has changed the I-Spec mount on the 2014 system to Type B. You can recognise this by the addition of the letter B to the lever designation.
