Shimano Saint 2013: the 10-speed shift levers of the SL M820 series are only available as a 10-speed version. The I-Spec version is suitable for direct mounting on the new Saint BL M820 lever-type brake levers

Shimano I-Spec mounting:

The Saint BLM 820 shift levers are suitable for direct mounting (I-Spec) on the BLM 820 brake levers. This mounting system allows for space-saving installation of the shift levers directly onto the brake lever clamp. Shimano has changed the I-Spec mount on the 2014 system to Type B. You can recognise this by the addition of the letter B to the lever designation. Older Shimano I-Spec shift levers can be combined with the new brake levers using the new I-Spec adapters: SM-SL98-B, SM-SL78-B and SM-SL82-B.

For better control on demanding downhill trails, Shimano has redesigned the Saint SLM 820 Rapidfire Plus shift levers in close collaboration with professional downhill riders, extending the levers by 6 per cent for the main lever and 10 per cent for the release lever. Furthermore, the ergonomics and performance of the Saint shifting system have been further improved. The operating forces required for shifting are very low and extremely consistent, even in the lower gears, with up to 37 per cent lower operating forces compared to the M810. The Saint SLM820 shift levers feature 2-Way Release technology, which allows shifts to be initiated either by pressing with the thumb or pulling with the index finger; Multi-Release, which enables multiple gears to be shifted with a single lever movement; and Instant Release, which initiates the gear change the moment the lever is actuated. Designed for particularly rough use, the Shimano Saint Rapidfire SL-M-810 shift levers. Naturally extremely well-sealed and with significantly crisper detents than standard Shimano Rapidfire levers to prevent accidental shifting. The 2-Way Release technology allows the shift to be initiated by either pressing or pulling the lever. The lever travel has been shortened to enable the fastest possible shifting.
