DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 55
The lead is taken, not given ARC version 3: wider, taller, lighter. If you want to be at the top, you have to be able to hold your own. The pursuers are hot on your heels, trying to take the lead. Since we launched our benchmark-setting ARC wheels on the market, we haven’t rested on our laurels and have been constantly improving them. With the 3rd generation of wheels, we have reached a new pinnacle in our development. Wider tyres offer better grip and greater riding comfort. To enable the use of such tyres, we have adapted the rim shape accordingly and continue to ensure a competitive edge. The third generation is characterised by a larger inner rim width and a unique V-shape, without compromising on aerodynamics. Thanks to our Wheel-Tire-System technology (WTS technology), the ARC wheels can be used with AERO 111 tyres, thereby optimising aerodynamics. Wider, taller and lighter: with our new wheels, we can achieve our development goals and are well on our way to the top. Experience a thrilling ride with these wheels that will lead you to your personal victory. Victory isn’t handed to you on a plate. You have to earn it.
A wider rim width has a direct effect on the frontal area of the wheel. The V-shaped rim compensates for this and optimises aerodynamic drag. Wind tunnel tests show that this shape minimises aerodynamic drag. At the same time, the steering torque – i.e. the force acting on the steering under crosswinds – remains low. This has a positive effect on handling characteristics.4> DT Swiss WTS, Wheel Tire System
When Swiss Side’s aerodynamic expertise, Continental’s tyre know-how and DT Swiss’s wheel expertise come together, the result is not just the AERO 111 tyre, but a perfected storm. Specially designed aero chambers form the basis for the tyre’s patented tread pattern and generate a turbulent airflow on the surface, which keeps the oncoming air flowing along the rim shape for longer. The result is an optimisation of the sail effect, which delays early flow separation from the rim and thus forms the basis for the most advanced aero wheel-tyre system. It doesn’t matter whether you or your friends are aiming for personal bests or competing in professional races: the tyre reduces wind resistance whilst improving handling and ride characteristics, propelling you forward.
Conti AERO 111 tyres:
The next generation of aerodynamic road bike tyre performance, developed in close collaboration with the experts at DT Swiss and Swiss Side. The AERO 111 is based on the race-proven technologies of the GP5000 TR series and sets new standards in aerodynamics. The race-optimised Black Chili Compound ensures excellent grip and lower rolling resistance, whilst the proven Vectran Breaker provides puncture protection. The patented, aerodynamically optimised tread design features 48 precision-moulded air chambers. These so-called ‘vortex generators’ create controlled turbulence, causing the airflow to hug the rim for longer, which reduces drag and optimises handling in crosswinds.
DT Swiss Sinc Ceramic Bearings:
the high-end ceramic bearings from DT Swiss, specially optimised for DT Swiss hubs, offer maximum smoothness and minimal weight. In a special manufacturing process, the balls are rolled until their surface exhibits perfect roundness. Whilst the surface of conventional ceramic balls is not 100 per cent smooth, SINC Ceramic balls exhibit extremely high smoothness and, thanks to their perfect roundness, achieve extremely low rolling resistance. By combining these ceramic balls with high-quality steel bearing cups, the full potential of the bearings can be realised.
DT Swiss ARC 1100 Dicut rims:
The ARC 1100 carbon rims, developed entirely in collaboration with Swiss Side, offer excellent aerodynamics and superior handling in all wind conditions. Extensively tested and optimised in the wind tunnel, the ARC 1100 rims provide the best compromise between aerodynamics and handling. The finish is applied using a new process and does not affect aerodynamics in any way. With a 20 mm inner rim width, they are ideal for tyres from 25 mm wide and, of course, tubeless-ready.
Hooked / Crotchet tubeless TC:
‘Hooked’ or ‘Crotchet’ refers to the shape of the rim flange, which features a so-called hook. This aids in securing the tyre bead and ensures reliable performance, even when using high tyre pressure (> 5 bar). ‘Tubeless’ means that the rim can be ridden without an inner tube, although a setup with an inner tube is also possible.
DT Swiss ARC 1100 Dicut spokes:
The lacing using the Nail Head System ensures that the spokes cannot twist under load, so the spokes are always at the most aerodynamically favourable angle. Flatter and lighter than all others, the DT Swiss Aerolite spoke features an aerodynamic flat profile and is extremely lightweight. On the freehub side of the Dicut wheels, the slightly heavier and even more stable DT Ärcomp spokes are fitted.
DT Swiss Ratchet EXP Freewheel:
Ratchet EXP is DT Swiss’s lightest freehub system and is therefore used in DT Swiss products designed for the most demanding requirements. It is fitted to the 180 and 240 hubs. The DT Swiss EXP Ratchet System hub system allows for easy conversion to various axle or rotor standards. The multi-tooth ratchet freehub body ensures loss-free power transmission. The rear hubs can be converted to Campagnolo ED and N3W, Shimano HG and Microspline, Sram XD and XDR freehub bodies without the need for tools.
