These high-end wheels feature Shimano’s patented rim technology, combining a carbon core with an aluminium rim bed. This technology enables very lightweight wheels with excellent braking performance. Equipped with rims of varying heights – featuring an asymmetrical rim on the rear wheel for high stiffness and high-strength double-thickness stainless steel Aero spokes – the Shimano WH-R9100-C60-TU wheels are the perfect race wheels
Shimano OptBal lacing:
The 11-speed cassette width in today’s wheels causes an imbalance in tension in conventional 1:1 spoke systems, which exerts almost double the tension on the spokes on the right-hand side. The OptBal design balances the spoke tension, thereby improving the lateral stiffness and durability of the rear wheel. Each wheel has 24 stainless steel spokes.
Shimano Dura Ace hubs
The Dura Ace wheels are, of course, also fitted with Dura Ace R9100 hubs, which feature Shimano’s proven tapered bearing technology with Digital Click adjustment. The Dura Ace hubs are characterised by the finest materials, stainless steel balls, high-end polished raceways, angular contact bearings and double labyrinth seals. In addition, the hubs feature a completely new adjustment system, Digital Click, which allows the bearing play to be adjusted easily yet very precisely. Unlike industrial bearings, the tapered roller bearings also absorb axial forces exceptionally well, ensuring minimal resistance and high torsional rigidity. The Dura-Ace hubs utilise honed bearing cups and cones. These ensure perfectly smooth running that will bring a smile to the face of any lover of technical perfection. The freehub of the Dura-Ace hubs is suitable for 8- to 11-speed road bike cassettes.
