Shimano Deore XT 8110 hub wheelset, 12-speed Micro Spline – DT Swiss EX 471

The wheelset for all-mountain to enduro use with a 25 mm rim width. The EX 471 DT Swiss enduro rim is suitable for tyres up to 2.5” wide and features the robust Shimano XT hubs from the 12-speed series with the Micro Spline freehub body, which is highly durable and low-maintenance. The Shimano Deore XT M8110 hubs allow the wheelset to be configured with either standard or Boost hubs.

Wheel building at TNC-Hamburg:

We hand-build these wheelsets exclusively for you. Thanks to over 30 years’ experience in wheel building, we extract the optimum in concentricity, durability and stiffness from the materials. These wheelsets are, of course, tested multiple times for truing, and we also pre-load the spokes in the longitudinal direction. This eliminates the need for re-truing over a long period of time. We use exclusively DT Swiss spokes and DT Swiss Pro Lock spoke nipples. This is the only way we can guarantee that you will not experience any spoke breaks, even after many years.

These wheelsets are made to order for you, which is why we cannot offer a right of withdrawal for them. The handmade wheelsets are not eligible for a discount.

Shimano XT Hubs M8110:

With the Deore XT hubs, Shimano offers classic cone-bearing MTB hubs that are extremely durable and easy to maintain. Super-polished raceways and balls, double high-performance seals and easy adjustability ensure years of riding enjoyment. Recommended for a wide range of applications from MTB to gravel and touring, the XT hubs provide a solid foundation for high-quality wheelsets. The new XT rear hubs with the Micro Spline freehub body for Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes are only compatible with these. The raised hub flange significantly improves lateral stiffness.

Shimano Micro Spline 12-speed freehub body:

the first new freehub body system since the introduction of the HG10 freehub bodies almost 20 years ago. The fine-pitch gearing ensures a perfect fit for the new Shimano 12-speed MTB cassettes. Not compatible with older Shimano HG cassettes.

The Micro Spline freehub body reduces weight when used with a lightweight cassette hub, with the smallest sprocket having 10 teeth. Smaller and more widely spaced teeth prevent sprocket damage on the freehub body, which is made from lightweight aluminium.

DT Swiss EX 471 Disc Rim:

The lightweight 30 mm wide Enduro rim from DT Swiss, the EX 471 with a 25 mm rim width. Designed for wide Enduro tyres, the DT EX 471 rim offers very high stability with a pleasingly low weight of just 530 grams. Thanks to extensive FEM analyses, DT Swiss EX 471 rims feature material only where it is actually needed. These rims are supplied with special DT Squorx Pro Head nipples and PHR washers and must only be laced using these nipples. With the wide EX 471 rim, DT Swiss offers a rim for stable and lightweight Enduro wheelsets. Cleanly finished, with a welded joint and stainless steel eyelets, the DT Swiss EX 471 strikes the perfect balance between low weight and high stability.

The DT Swiss EX 401 rims are equipped with rim flanges adapted for tubeless tape and can be easily upgraded to lightweight tubeless rims using DT Swiss tubeless tape

DT Competition spokes:

The double cold-forged spoke made from rust-resistant 18/10 chrome-nickel steel with a tapered middle section for robust, lightweight wheelsets. We recommend these spokes for virtually all wheelsets. Extremely durable and sufficiently lightweight, the DT Competition spokes enable wheel building of the highest standard. Thanks to the tapered section, the spokes absorb movements in the wheel exceptionally well, without compromising on lateral stiffness or durability. Weight with nipple approx. 7 grams.

DT Swiss Aero Comp spokes:

Designed for stable, laterally stiff yet aerodynamic wheelsets, the DT Swiss Aero Comp spoke is first cold-forged in the middle section to make it lighter and stronger. In a further complex process, it is flat-forged to optimise aerodynamic properties whilst simultaneously increasing material strength. The DT Aero Comp guarantees a balanced combination of stiffness, aerodynamics and durability.
