Fulcrum Racing Zero wheelset

The Fulcrum Racing Zero C17 wheels feature new, wider rims, USB ceramic ball bearings, high-strength aero aluminium spokes and rims of varying heights: 27 mm at the front and 30 mm at the rear. The Racing Zero wheels are assembled entirely by hand at Fulcrum and checked using electronically controlled instruments.

Fulcrum Racing Zero:

The rims of varying heights are manufactured using a special extrusion process, which makes the rim walls much thinner and results in a significant reduction in overall weight. The rim bed is unperforated and the reinforced rim profile gives the wheel greater torsional stiffness and greater vertical elasticity. Following Fulcrum’s special 2:1 Two-to-One lacing system, the rear wheel has twice the number of spokes on the right-hand side, thereby achieving more effective torque transfer and a better distribution of spoke tension. The front wheel is radially laced.

Fulcrum Racing Zero hubs:

The oversize hubs feature a carbon/aluminium hub body and aluminium hub axles, and are equipped with adjustable UBS ceramic ball bearings. The difference compared to steel bearings lies in the bearing balls used. The outstanding feature of the ceramic balls is their incredible geometric perfection and extremely smooth surface, which guarantees optimal rolling performance and precision fit. Furthermore, the ceramic balls are lighter and harder than steel balls. The rear hubs, with the oversized flange on the sprocket side, ensure even better transmission of drive power.

Fulcrum Racing Zero C17 2 Way Fit rims:

The Racing Zero C17 is equipped with genuine tubeless aluminium rims and features a differentiated profile at the front and rear. The front rim has a height of 27mm to achieve perfect aerodynamics, whilst the rear rim has a height of 30mm to provide the necessary stiffness for the drive forces. The rims are machined with the highest precision, resulting in a completely uniform material structure. Stress points on the rim are eliminated. The Dynamic Balance process ensures a perfectly balanced wheel.

Fulcrum Racing Zero spokes:

The Racing Zero spokes are made of aluminium and feature an aero profile with a central cross-section of 2.6 mm. This ensures maximum aerodynamics and reduced weight. The front wheel is radially laced with 16 spokes, the rear wheel with 21 spokes – 7 spokes radially on the left and 14 spokes crossed on the right – following Fulcrum’s well-known 2:1 two-to-one lacing system, with the spokes doubled on the cassette side. The aluminium spoke nipples reduce the mass to be accelerated. Thanks to the Spokes anti-rotation system, the spokes always remain in their optimal position.

Fulcrum freehub body:

The aluminium freehub body in the Shimano-Sram versions undergoes plasma electrolytic oxidation treatment in the laboratory. Although the material thicknesses have been reduced to a minimum to optimise weight, durability and strength are guaranteed.
