This significantly extends service life and reduces maintenance intervals to a minimum. All the right ingredients for a low-maintenance and reliable headset.
ZS44/28.6 top thread:
The ZS headset is pressed into the top of the head tube; the press-fit dimension in the frame is 44 mm and the fork steerer tube diameter is 1 1/8 inch / 28.6 mm at the top.
EC44/30 bottom threading:
The EC headset is pressed into the head tube at the bottom; the press-fit dimension in the frame is 44 mm and the fork steerer tube diameter is 1 1/8 inches at the bottom. The headset cone requires a 30 mm seat on the fork at the bottom.
ZS/Zero Stack – semi-integrated headset:
Head sets designated ZS / Zero Stack are also referred to as semi-integrated head sets. They require a frame designed for this purpose with an exact match for the bearing cups. Zero Stack refers to the minimal protrusion of the bearing cups from the head tube, whilst ZS44, for example, denotes the installation dimension, the outer diameter of the bearing cup and the inner diameter of the bearing cups within the frame. The headsets can usually be fitted without special tools; the frame simply needs to be cleanly pre-milled.
EC/External Cup – external headset:
Headset sets designated EC / External Cup are also referred to as external or classic headset sets. These headset sets require a frame designed for this purpose with an exact fit for the bearing cups. ‘External Cup’ refers to the relatively large projection of the bearing cups on the head tube, whilst ‘EC44’, for example, refers to the installation dimension, the outer diameter of the bearing cup and the inner diameter of the bearing cups within the frame. The headset must be fitted using a special tool; the frame simply needs to be cleanly pre-milled.
