Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra and 105 road bike cranksets
The Shimano Hollowtech II axle system, featuring 24 mm steel axles, has an axle length of 110 mm. These axles are shorter than the Hollowtech II axles used on MTB cranksets.
Shimano offers only a limited selection of bottom brackets for BSA and Italian threaded bottom bracket shells and for the BB86.5 mm press-fit standard.

Modern frames now feature a wide variety of bottom bracket shells. Wheels Outboard bottom brackets are significantly more durable than standard press-fit bearings, as the cup halves are bolted together, ensuring they sit flat and securely within the frame. Wheels bearings are available in various quality grades: ABEC3 standard bearings, angular contact bearings and ceramic bearings.
