Shimano XTR 12x1-speed groupset
The Shimano XTR 12-speed components, designed for use ranging from cross-country to enduro. Available with a crankset featuring either one or two chainrings and the new 12-speed cassettes with 10-45 and 10-51 tooth ratios. The XTR components from the 9100 / 9120 series are not compatible with older shifters or cassettes. The new Micro Spline freehub body is required for the cassette.
The XTR M9100, the new flagship of Shimano’s mountain bike components, comes with a revolutionary 12-speed cassette with a choice of 10-45 or 10-51 teeth, two- or four-piston brakes and hubs featuring Shimano’s new Micro Spline technology. The completely redesigned mounting system for shift and brake levers allows users to customise their cockpit for optimal control; a release lever for dropper seatposts, seamlessly integrated into this system, is also available. All in all, the new XTR has shed more than 150 g in weight compared to its predecessor in the XC configuration; for enduro use, this still amounts to a weight saving of 90 g. The shift lever forces and travel have been revised and optimised to guarantee intuitive control in all conditions and allow riders to focus on the challenges of the terrain.
Shimano XTR RD-M9100 rear derailleur:
The XTR Shadow Plus 9100 rear derailleur shifts with extreme precision, speed and smoothness. The new, slimmer design, fluorine-coated stainless steel bushings and extremely precise machined fits ensure high shifting precision and a long service life. With the ability to adjust the friction damper via a screw mechanism as desired, the system can be tuned to prioritise maximum stability or minimal operating forces. Furthermore, the rear derailleur features an even slimmer profile, which protects it from damage and further reduces operating forces thanks to the shallow angle of attack.
The XTR RDM 9100 rear derailleur is available in two versions: the RD-M9100GS short cage for use with XTR 2x cranksets and the 11-45-tooth cassette. The SGS version of the Shimano XTR rear derailleur is designed for the 11-51-tooth cassette
Shimano XTR SL-M9100 Rapidfire shifters:
The XTR Rapidfire 12- and 11-speed SL-M9100 shifters are available for classic clamp mounting or in the new I-Spec EV version. Shifting effort has been reduced by 35 per cent thanks to a modified gear ratio combined with lower cage tension on the rear derailleur. However, the M9100 shifter shifts 20 per cent faster due to a redesigned internal mechanism, allowing the rider to react even more quickly to changing terrain conditions. The further optimised, ergonomic design of the Shimano XTR SL M9100 Rapidfire shifters literally takes shifting to a new level. The shifters feature a dual-textured, non-slip surface and are equipped with all the latest high-end technologies such as Multi-Release, Instant-Release and 2-Way-Release. Carbon was chosen as the material for the shift levers to ensure the lowest possible weight. Fitted with polymer-coated cables, shifting performance is significantly optimised and operating forces are reduced by 20 per cent. The shift lever can be converted from 12-speed to 11-speed
Shimano I Spec EV:
The new I-Spec version of the Shimano XTR shifters and brakes offers a wide adjustment range, 14 mm laterally and rotatable by 60 degrees, ensuring optimal shifting ergonomics. With the I-Spec EV version, the shifter can be mounted on XTR M9100/9120 brake levers in a space-saving manner. Furthermore, mounting via the new standard provides a 14-millimetre lateral adjustment range, and the shifter can also be rotated by 60 degrees. The new I-Spec version is not compatible with older brakes.
Shimano XTR CS-M9100 cassette:
The Shimano XTR 12-speed CS-M9100 cassette, available in 10-45 and 10-51 tooth configurations, features closely spaced gears and shifts perfectly. At the same time, it is also the most carefully spaced and, thanks to Hyperglide+, shifts superbly even under load. The close spacing of the XTR 12-speed cassette enables precisely calculated gear changes without large, noticeable jumps or gaps, which saves power and energy and helps maintain flow on the trail in all situations. As is customary with Shimano’s high-end cassettes, it features a titanium sprocket, aluminium spider and is very light at 349/359 grams
Shimano XTR 9100 12-speed cassette compatibility:
The new Shimano 12-speed cassette from the XTR 9100 series is only compatible with XTR 9100 shifting components. The CN-M9100 chain is recommended. The 12-speed XTR cassettes are only compatible with the new Micro Spline freehub bodies.
Shimano HG-M9100 Chain
The Shimano chain for the new 12-speed MTB drivetrains. Extremely lightweight thanks to its hollow rivets, and made from a high-quality, particularly robust zinc alloy, the Shimano HG-M9100 12-speed chain is also extremely durable. For perfect shifting performance, the chain is directional; the inner chain plates are specially shaped for fast and smooth shifting. The special asymmetrical outer and inner plates, combined with Shimano’s SIL-TEC surface coating, minimise friction, optimise performance and also reduce dirt build-up.
